Looking for an item but can’t find it in our library? Our Interlibrary Loan Service may be able to borrow the item from another library. Any registered member of Township of Uxbridge Public Library in good standing may use this service.

Interlibrary Loan is a service available through the cooperation of public libraries in Ontario, coordinated by the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS).

When you submit a request, our friendly Interlibrary Loan staff send the request out to other libraries in the province. Service will be provided as quickly as possible, however waiting times vary depending on the lending library and the materials requested, but three weeks is an average waiting time. You will be notified by telephone or email when your requested item arrives.

You can request items by title, author, or subject; photocopies of articles in magazines or newspapers; or microfilm from provincial and national archives for genealogy research (charges may apply for any photocopies).

To order a book, you will need to tell us the title and author, as well as any other information you might have such as publisher or ISBN. For a photocopy of an article in a magazine, we will need to know the author and title of the article, title of the magazine, issue number, pages in the issue, and date issued.

Items that cannot be requested include DVDs, reference material, materials in high demand (Oprah’s book list books, gardening books in June), titles published in the last 6 months, whole issues of magazines, multi-volume sets, etc.

Borrowing charges occasionally apply for photocopies or for specialized materials from some university or private libraries. We will try to notify you in advance of these charges before continuing the request.

For a new title (published within the last year) you may ask that we consider purchasing the title for our collection. Please email Leslie Nagle with as much information as you can.
