With Adopt-a-Book, library users can make a financial donation to the Uxbridge Public Library that will allow us to add a particular book (or books) to our collection.

Why does the library need money to buy books?

Public demand for the number and variety of library materials has increased tremendously over the last few years. At the Township of Uxbridge Public Library, our collection features movies, TV series, video games, audiobooks, eBooks, large print, fiction, non-fiction, and reference materials. The library is granted only a certain amount of funding to purchase new titles in all of these categories.

Can I choose the book?

Yes, we encourage you to select a book from our new material display near the circulation desk.

Can I donate a book that I have already purchased through Adopt-a-Book?

The Adopt-a-Book program is set up to handle cash donations only. Because the library receives a discount for the books we purchase, it also means that we can obtain the book at a cost that is lower than the retail price.

While the Uxbridge and Zephyr Public Libraries do accept new and used book donations, we are not able to issue a tax receipt for these books.

How much does it cost?

The cost will vary depending on the book, but a minimum donation of $20.00 is required to receive a tax receipt issued by the Township of Uxbridge.

Why would I Adopt-a-Book?

As previously mentioned, contributors will receive a charitable tax receipt. You will also have the opportunity to be the first to borrow the book.
